No need give comments concerning pro' s, I agree with observations of other users. Although I the way I much joy of bringing to the touchpad with two fingers to express. My computer screen was defective right out of the box, full of flicker and black lines. After two days of dealing with Acer customer support, I only get the option of delivering the unit to a Fedex shipper and waitting 10 days for a repaired unit. Considering that this is a brand new unit, I do not consider ending up with a repaired unit acceptable customer service. Buyers should beware and shame on Acer! I also complained to a supervisor but got no other alternative, “this is our warranty policy” If you don’t like it, return it to where you purchased it. For this reason I do not recommend that you purchase Acer products.

I had searched around for a net book with a decent speed and memory. I chose the Acer Aspire AS1410-2497 for 399 (amazon has raised the price for some reason) over the Gateway EC1433U with similar specs. I received the laptop and it looked great. I followed all the set up procedures but when I turned it on nothing happened. Blank screen and no hard drive activity. Apparently Amazon takes it on good faith from the distributer that the laptop functions correctly. I rated the product as a 2 because I was happy with the portability and size of the screen. . . nothing more obviously because the thing wouldn’t turn on. Amazon couldn’t replace it because it wasn’t in stock at the time so I had to send it out to Acer for repairs. This was negotiated after 2 hours talking to customer service at both Amazon and Acer. Its been over a month since I first placed the order and I am still waiting for Acer to return the netbook. So not only did Amazon send me a laptop that didn’t turn on but now they have jacked up the price another hundred bucks. Buyers beware.

It has the form factor adv like a netbook without the limitations. comes with Win7 home premium. has HDMI out, VGA out.

Pros- comfortable keyboard, HDMI and RAM expandable to 4GB
Cons- processing speed, no 3g wireless. The included ram is 2 1gb sticks, so you have to get 2 new 2gb sticks to max it out. The outside of the lid has a smooth texture so it covered in gets fingerprints but that’s very minor.
Overall great for a 3rd gen netbook and I actually do own this.
